| Good evening, Members of The STARFLEET Special Operations Department.
In the upcoming weeks, I'll let you in on small snippets of what the re-imagined SFSO will be like. From it's beginnings as the practical joke department of STARFLEET, the SFSO has had a strange reputation. I would like to change that and make us a the fleet version of the Marines, only without all the heavy rules and regulations. I'm imagining SFSO as more like the Army Rangers, SEALS, and StarFleet Inteligence. Which means that fictionally we gather the intel that the marines would need to carry out big attacks, we'd also be the ones that get dropped months in advance to scout the area, create a force multiplier and analyze the intel gathered. I'm also adding minor things like Hostage Rescue, Starship recapture/capture, etc.
I'm eventually going to offer the Marine Specops teams a secondary place to send their reports to, which could make us almost a StarFleet Special Operations Command, as well.
In a week weeks, I'm hoping to have a partial SFSO Manual to show you, and a way to make people interested in joining us.
Just between you, me, and the wall, Commander Roberts is my second in command and has the authority to carry out the SFSO Duties, in case someone can't get hold of me, so if he sends something, consider if coming from my lips.

| For those who long for that something different from the normal run of Star Fleet, then Star Fleet Special Operations Rangers may just be what you're looking for! We are the silent heroes who work out of the lime light and do the dirty jobs that need to be done. It is not easy to become a Special Operations Rangers (SOR)! It takes a lot of time and effort on your part. But the final pay off is well worth all that it took to get there. Special Operations Rangers are not knuckle dragging throw backs, that many view them being so. The SOR is a individual who has taken that extra step to be more than they are prior. They are the ones who look not for glory but a sense of doing a job that means a difference at the end of the mission! We welcome all those who think that they have the internal material to become a Special Operations Ranger. Make a difference--become a Special Operations Ranger. | piroukay, There is not any special training prior to your membership in SFI. But the basic ground work for the SOR was based on the closest thing we could come up using the resources of the SFA and the SFMCA. The two officers that designed the requirements are both Ranger School graduates and course selection was based on this history. There is a series of course work that comes from both Academies that lay the basis for the SOR program. The requirement for the Team Leaders and Asst. Team Leaders are a little more involved due to the nature of the Mission that the SOR under take. At present I unable to pull them off the SFSO site and thus I can not give them to you. But do please check the SFSO web page for it opening.
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Starfleet Special Operations Rangers.
CHARLIE MIKE!

| The Special Operations S.E.A.L.S. are similar to the SOR, but we go where no one has gone before so quietly that nobody knows we were there. To get a better idea of what the S.E.A.L.S. do, you should watch movies like Navy SEALs, G.I. Jane, Under Siege, etc. S.E.A.L.S. stands for Sea, Air, Land, and Space. The S.E.A.L.S. program is just getting under way, but we are going to start coordinating our training courses with the SFSO Training Director very soon. SFSO courses that will help you in S.E.A.L.S. preparation is the SFA Institute of Intelligence and Espionage, SFMCA Special Operations Branch, and anything required for the Rangers as well. If you would like to help design the S.E.A.L.S. program, don't hesitate to contact me.

Actually Larry, that was out of date information. I have updated it to the current command staff configuration. There are a few open positions listed up there. If anyone feels that they have the right stuff for those positions please send an e-mail with a current Fleet and RL resume to Director@sfso.sfi.org and to myself at sfso@sfi.org. Even if you just have some general questions. I get my e-mail on my phone and my phone is always with me. CDR Erik Roberts Deputy Director (Operations), SFSO http://sfso.sfi.org/ | |

| Instead of a Force Recon BN, which would nominally be under the SFMC, why not a Ranger Battalion? I think that would be easier for us, as SFSO to set up, than a Force Recon Battalion. By the way, the SFSO Ranger prerequisites are indeed in the SFSO Traning book on the website. It is www.sfso.sfi.org. We are constantly updating the website, and making it more user friendly. I am still working on the SFSO Manual, and will post sections of it here as I get finished with them. Joseph White Director SFSO | |

| Greetings,
I was reading through the SFSO Training Plan and wondered who certifies the operatives at the different levels? I figured out that I meet all of the requirements for that of a Director (Superscale 3) and the requirements for all specialties at the minimum level 1 at least. With almost 700 SFA and SFMCA courses complete, along with several of the SFA and SFMCA Degrees completed, I think I qualify for these requirements.

| Mr White, Mr Roberts,
I do hope this message finds you (covertly) well?
I have made and application to be considered for the position of Director of the Ambassador's Corps. Though I am yet to hear if I have been successful, I would like to say, if I am, I would intend to hit the ground running.
My plans for the Ambassador's Corps would see an Embassy in every Region of STARFLEET, and there would be certain positions in those Embassies for Military/Intelligence Attaches. I see STARFLEET Special Ops personnel as the obvious choice to conduct reconnaissance and intelligence operations that would enhance the work conducted by the Regional Ambassador's and their Diplomatic Staff.
There is much to be gained from mutual cooperation, which would see both Special Operations and the Ambassador's Corps grow for the overall benefit of STARFLEET.
